We are truly sorry to hear of the passing of Sir David Samworth. Sir David devoted much of his time to charitable work and working with the Bishop of Leicester, he helped to set up Samworth Enterprise Academy in 2007. It opened as an all through school, accepting children from the age of three. In its first year, it took children up to Year 7. In September 2008 it welcomed Year 8 students for the first time. The ethos of the school was firmly based on Christian & British values of caring. On 1st January 2016, the school became a member of the Tudor Grange Academies Trust and was renamed to Tudor Grange Samworth Academy. The school sought a partnership that would enable it to develop excellence in all areas and enable all to flourish. As a Church of England school, Tudor Grange Samworth Academy maintains its close links with St Christopher’s Church and is guided by a caring Christian ethos supported by the TUDOR and British values. In November 2021, the academy received a Good rating by Ofsted and Sir David told us it was a wonderful Christmas present. He will always be a part of the fabric of our school, and we will remember him and celebrate his achievements this year at our Samworth Founders Day on November 1st. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.
