As part of Black History month, we have investigated the life and music of Stevie Wonder. After listening to his music and reading about his life, we created some art work to represent his life and music.

We have been curious cats in Design and Technology where we have applied our historical knowledge to design, make and evaluate our Stone Age shelters. Children had to make a secure structure out of poles before enhancing it with features from the Stone Age including fur coverings, mammoth tusks and fire.

Today we explored how people during the Stone Age created cave paintings. We looked at examples of cave art and tried to retell the stories, exploring themes of hunting and family. We then used our desks as our caves to recreate our own stories.

As part of our investigation into rocks and fossils, Year 3 looked at how fossils are created. We then used salt dough to create some of our own fossils. We also investigated how sedimentary rocks are made by using salt dough to recreate layers of smaller rocks that are squeezed and compressed together over time.
