The children have settled well into reception. They have quickly become familiar with the routines and what we expect of them. So far, we have had two focus books and the children have enjoyed daily activities and discussions linked to these books. We spent the month reading Owl Babies and The Invisible String, which have helped the children to adjust to being away from parents during the day when they come to school as they explore ideas around parents coming back and being joined by love.

The children have enjoyed our daily phonics lessons and reading groups. They are very quickly starting to recognise the graphemes they have been taught and saying the correct phonemes. The children are working so hard at forming the new graphemes and we are so proud at their resilience. Our maths lessons are now in full swing, your children have loved mastering counting to 5 using puppets and objects. We have been learning about emotions in PSHE and we were lucky to have a story read by Reverend Chris from our onsite church as apart of our RE curriculum.

Our outdoor area is a well loved learning resource and reception have enjoyed endless activities and opportunities to learn to play together. Our forest school has been a firm weekly favourite, and as well as exploring and playing in the forest, we have enjoyed stories and collecting things to take back to the classroom for our creative table.
